Healing New York Archives is one of the nation’s most valuable repositories of original and compiled material on the origins, history and development of the child protection movement. The mission of Healing New York Archives is to arrange, preserve, and make accessible the unique records of the organization, including files concerning approximately two million New York City children during the period 1874 to present day.

Healing New York Archives is delighted to announce a new public portal for accessing Healing New York Archives. On the portal, annual reports are now accessible digitally, from December 1874 through 2021. As well, there is an Agency History Time. There is capability to make a reference request via the public portal.

Who Can Use Healing New York's Archival Records?

Healing New York Archives have served as an invaluable resource for published works concerning the origins and history of child protection, the movement to regulate child performers, and for various local museum exhibitions.

User Community - Staff - Individuals - Families - Researchers - Students - Schools - Universities - Colleges - Organizations

Who May Request and Obtain Family Search Request? Whose Records Could Be On File?

• Persons who as children were the subjects of reports

• Relatives and descendants of such persons

• Legal representatives of such persons or their estates

• Professionals engaged by any of the preceding individuals

• Residents of Manhattan and Marble Hill 1875-1950

• Bronx residents west of the Bronx River 1875-1916

• Non-resident children whose cases were reported in the above areas

Research Fee Schedule

• Family Search (light/intense) - $100/$250

• Requestor Search (light/intense) - $100/$300

• Publication (use of material in book-article-press release; one-time use) - $300

Depending on the research work required for requests, there may be additional fees.
